It is a blessing from God to see renewed interest in reading Scripture and prayer among believers. There is more interest in spiritual matters than 3 or 4 years ago. The young and old, rich and poor, those who go to church and those who 1have not been to church for years, are opening their Bibles to find faith and hope. Jesus promised: “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).
It is important to ask God’s help to understand what one is reading and apply it to his life. “Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything” (2 Timothy 2:7).
The White Rock Fund upholds the authority of Scripture and invites others to join us in. The Fund enables faithful gospel preachers to “preach the word.” We believe there are truth-seekers who are open to an invitation to study God’s word. “Golden opportunities” are all around us!
Courageous Christians encourage others to read the Bible and to find the undenominational Christianity.
The apostle Paul prayed for God to open a door for the word. He asked believers to pray that he “would make the gospel clear” (Colossians 4:4).
Erasmus (1467-1536), a Catholic priest and scholar, lived at a time when the clergy discouraged people from reading the Scriptures. He penned the following words which I have shared with others as a bookmark:
“I disagree very much with those who are unwilling to allow the Holy Scripture to be translated into common languages so that they can be read by the uneducated. Christ wants his mysteries to be published as openly as possible. I wish that even the lowliest peasants read the gospels and the Pauline epistles. And I wish that they were translated into all languages so that they could be read and understood not only by the Scots and Irish but also by the Turks and Saracens. I wish that as a result of translation the farmer could sing some portion of them at the plough, the weaver could hum some parts of them while working the shuttle, and the traveler could lighten the weariness of the journey with stories of this kind. Let all the conversations of every Christian be drawn from this source. Only a few can be learned, but all can be Christians, all can be devout….”
